The Northwoods Crossing

a set of four

Four folded photo note cards fanned on a wooden table, each showing a different flower.

The set of four, with envelopes. Northwoods, Michigan.

These were not staged and they were not bought. Four flowers stood in the soil in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and the shutter opened. They were printed on the same ground where they bloomed, and they are mailed from the same address.

Nothing is printed inside. The card carries the flower; you carry the words.

Card front: deep red cosmos with a gold centre and two closed buds.
Card front: pink and peach chrysanthemums against dark leaves.
Card front: ruffled pink blooms among green leaves.
Card front: pink snapdragons with purple asters.
